This blog is intended to help me monitor my progress as I try to go from an unfit office bound individual to a fitter more active person, with my sights set on a triathlon.
When I started writing this blog I was 17 stone, during my late teens and early twenties I was a keen amateur surfer and weighed in at about 10 stone soaking wet. After a while work and life got in the way and the surfing dropped off and the weight piled on.
I would like to get back to the level of fitness from when I was surfing, so I thought I might attempt a triathlon – not the full Ironman, but a sprint or supersprint event.
I am also studying Engineering at University, part time over the course of 5 years, one day a week. I started in 2007 and am due to finish 2012 all being well, this is after a 12 year break from education.
After a year of training, I have dropped into the 15 stone bracket (just) and I have managed to swim a mile, cycle for 30 miles (in one session), unfortunately I still run like somebody who has just met their legs and feet for the first time.
Next Update:
I have writen about what I have done to my bikes and various vehicles that I work on from time to time. I would remind you that this is a blog and hope you find it helpful if you are working on a similar vehicle or problem, but it is not intended as an official how to guide or instructions to be followed. If you are unsure about undertaking any work on any vehicle then consult an expert. Never compromise your safety by undertaking work beyond understanding or capability.
Enjoy…..
I hadn’t a clue what I was going to write about when I started; actually I still don’t and that is the fun of it.
I suspect it will be the random ramblings of my feverish mind!
